Indi Stivín

Indi Stivín was born in 2001 in Prague into a Czech musical family. He began with music at very early age, he started with the piano and the violin. When he was 9 he fell in love with double bass and decided he wanted to play this instrument right away because of its deep and soothing sound. He also began to write his own double bass compositions.

He studies with Dalibor Tkadlčík, the Principal Double bass player of the State Opera Prague and he takes private lessons with Jan Krigovsky at Senec, Slovakia.
He took Masterclasses with Thomas Martin (UK), Miloslav Jelínek (CZ), Zsolt Fejervári (HU), Catalyn Rotaru (USA) and Jan Krigovsky (SK) and it was Jan Krigovsky who told him he has to meet Gary Karr in person and take his Masterclass.
Great musical experience for him was playing in the International children's orchestra under Maestro Yury Bashmet in 2013 and 2014 in Austria and United Nation's Centre in Switzerland (double bass section there was supervised by Jan Krigovsky).

At the age of twelve, Indi made his solo debut performance of Domenico Dragonetti's Concerto for double bass and orchestra with Orchestra of Kolín "František Kmoch" (Czech Republic).
In 2015 Indi took Gary Karr's solo playing masterclass in Banska Bystrica (Slovakia) which was with his words  "the most influential musical meeting of my life".

At the age of fifteen he became a soloist of Janacek Philharmonic Ostrava, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc and South Czech Philharmonic. He became the youngest Prizewinner in the history of the International Instrumental Competition in Markneukirchen 2017, Germany.

In 2018 he made his solo debut performance at the Prague Spring International Music Festival with his solo recital.

As the only Double bassist he became a finalist of the Eurovision Young Musicians 2018 and his own composition "Bohemia" was performed by BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra with Thomas Dausgaard as the conductor at the Edinburgh International Festival.
